Zoning Administrator Position Description

The Town of Rome is currently seeking a Zoning Administrator.  The purpose of this position is to supervise, direct and manage the Zoning Department, and is responsible for all employees and activities in the department.  The Zoning Administrator administers and enforces Chapters 360 and 326 of the Town Code of Ordinances and on behalf of the Town contracted Building Inspector administers and enforces Chapter 142 of the Town Code of Ordinances.

An associate’s degree in planning, zoning, geography, surveying, or related field is strongly preferred.  Five years community planning, ordinance administration with office management, supervisory experience, or any combination of equivalent knowledge is required.  A bachelor’s degree is beneficial.  Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for a Zoning Administrator will be considered.

Knowledge of a variety of design data and information such as survey maps, plats, technical reports, requests for service, charts/graphs, planning documents, contracts, engineering manuals, state statutes, administrative code, policies, ordinances, aerial photos, topographical maps, soil surveys, construction drawings, technical journals and reference manuals is beneficial.  Must be able to pass a background check and have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.

Part-time Equipment Operators/Laborers Position Description

The Town of Rome is seeking part-time Equipment Operators/Laborers (maximum 1,200 hour annually) to assist with all-seasons public works maintenance items, such as building & grounds upkeep, snow removal, cemetery maintenance, and limited general construction/road maintenance.

Equipment Operators/Laborers must be physically able to perform the job duties: walking and/or climbing on uneven terrain, working outside, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and 75 pounds occasionally and hold a valid driver’s license. A valid CDL license is beneficial, but not required.

Position hours are generally Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 3 PM. Hourly rate of pay is $13.53 an hour without a CDL license and $17.34 an hour with a CDL license, plus $2.00 an hour extra during snowplowing operations.

Dyracuse Recreational Area Attendant Position Description

The Town of Rome is seeking individuals to work at Dyracuse Recreational Area as Attendants on a part-time basis from May through the end of October. Personnel are required to work both weekdays and weekends on rotation and must be at least 18 years of age. The rate of pay for this position is $13.53 an hour.

Attendants must be able to work with figures and handle money, communicate effectively with the public, provide excellent customer service, handle emergency situations, and maintain control of park use by enforcing the rules set forth.

Attendants must be physically able to perform the job duties; walking and/or climbing on uneven terrain, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Attendants must hold a valid drivers license.

The Town of Rome Fire Department always has an open application process and is looking for Volunteer Firefighters, you can complete the application and the addendum and turn them into the Fire Department or bring them to the Town hall.
